Quick help when an urge hits

What does the Reboot Emergency button do?

Emergency is a Reboot tool that gives you a short task to do when you feel tempted.

Urges are strongest when you are bored, tired or alone. When an urge hits, open "Emergency" from "Your Tools" on the home screen. The screen asks: "Feeling tempted? Try one of the following".

You choose one of five options. Each one gives your mind and body a different thing to do for a few minutes.

Home screen of the Reboot app with 27 total clean days, the level orb, the Reboot Level 4 bar and the daily routine list

The five options

"Do a simple exercise" gives you a short exercise, for example 10 push-ups, 20 squats, a 30-second wall sit or a stretch. When you finish, tap "Exercise Done". "Mental sum challenge" gives you a sum. Type your answer and tap "Check Answer", or tap "Try Another".

"Complete a random task" gives you a small task, for example: clean your work desk, write a grocery list or message a friend to say hi. "Write an entry in your journal" opens your Journal. "Review your manifesto" opens your personal manifesto, your statement of what you want in life.

Many tasks to choose from

The app has 30 simple exercises and 30 random tasks. Most need no equipment. Some exercises ask you to find some space. Some random tasks work best at home or at your computer.

Plan for the urge before it comes

Emergency helps in the moment. The Day Rehearsal task in the Daily Routine helps before the moment. In it, you write how you will manage a temptation that can come later today, for example: "If I'm home alone later and feel tempted, I would go out for a 5 minute walk."
